Hi! I speedrun this game, and i was wondering if you guys have any knowledge of glitches or strategies that could potentially be used in a speedrun. Anything that can potentially save time in any activity or skip certain sections would be helpful. |

Regarding using the PHTrainer v3.20
, the teleport function saves a lot of time. The trainer saves a LOT of time when going from Trinidad to Campeche.
You can also set it so that you can teleport to a custom location. |

The wind is your friend, a successful speedrun (without reloading or using mods) to Duke would depend on a lot of luck in encountering Evil Spaniards as well. The whole game is basically an attempted speedrun when you feel the clock ticking on your character's age and fitness for dueling |

I'm speedrunning according to the official speedrun.com rules and categories, we currently don't have a "speedrun to Duke" category. What we got is "defeat Montalban's hideout", "Get the Beautiful Wife", "Wipe out Spain", "Wipe out France", "Become #1 pirate on the leaderboard" and "Get 126 fame". The funny thing is, the current official world record for getting 126 fame appears to end the game with the character being older than that forum post where someone attempted speedrunning to 126 fame and apparently finished it in 25 years http://www.dos486.com/pirates/
So potentially that old dos486 link is the actual world record, but we have no footage to prove it |

Ref the speedrun by erik at dos486.com
Best you could describe it as an unofficial world record
due to the lack of gameplay footage
Erik posted a speedrun outline report and end results screen
http://www.dos486.com/pirates/stats.jpg
since there are trainers and a save game editing script
available for SM Pirates, not conclusive proof either way.
Just that he finished with those stats but how he got there
would need gameplay footage of the speedrun to prove it. |
