Pirate Quote:
Here is a project I've been working on. Hopefully someone will try it out and see if it makes the game any more interesting, harder, easier. etc. The cities, names ,locations, nationality's are the same. The cities themselves have been modified. Another thing if your favorite city is in one era but you want to play in a different era then don't worry. All cities in the game will show up no matter what era you play in.
Caribbean.exe file file and an empty folder named 'Larger Cities'
Basically what I did was used the default city of Havana for all the cities. We all know that Havana is one of the largest and important cities in the Carribean. This will make some of the previous normally worthless cities to become something. Also I made all cities available in all ere's just for the fun of it. All of Adammills tweeks are also included except for ironman and cannonball as I feel these two might not be as popular as the others.
I haven't added any texture mods or anything like that with it. Assuming you already have the game installed then just drop this down in the game folder that already has the pirates.exe in it. I named this one Carribean so it wouldn't overwright your original in case you want to play the stock version again. if you want to play my version just click on Carribean and to go back just click on Pirates. It's that simple
Just in case I wasn't clear the folder that said Larger Cities isn't needed for anything at all. I just used that to store the exe. All you need is the exe called Carribean and drop it in your game folder. Since it is named Carribean it makes it easier for you to not overwright the pirates exe. You will now have two exe in your game and both will work but not at the same time. Which ever version you want to play then click on that icon to start the game. The name Carribean will not keep it from working. It doesn't have to be named Pirates!exe. This way you don't have to go dragging in and out different exe. And risking the chance of overwrightin something.
I play it some especially when trying out texture mods or something I test the cities out a bit. Some of these cities have well over a thousand soldiers but I have seen as few as 400. I added Adamills minor relations/useless items to exe. It means if you have a negative relationship with the pirates then they wont help you and if you don't have the shaman stick the Indians wont attack the cities for you either. I see more pirate and indian attacks repelled now with these new cities. Anyway my intent was to make life a bit more difficult for those who like sacking cities. Might try seeing if I can turn all the military captains into Monty's. That ought to add a degree of new difficulty to the game. |

Pirate, is probably best placed to answer this
Game executable probably needs some Hex Edit work at a guess
MCSmarties's - Brethren of the Coast
(Custom game executable, only available separately in the thread
as not included in the original mod)
http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7900
Pirate - Larger Cities
Both mods each have a Custom Hex Edited Game Executable
for that mod only, for full mod support for that mod
Pirate - Larger Cities mod is a custom game executable only
Probably need to include the Hex Edit content for both
mods in the same Custom game executable at a guess,
so both mods will have full support for both, in the same executable
essentially
MCSmarties's - Brethren of the Coast & Pirate's Larger Cities combined
Until then, pick the mod executable
that you most need the full support
say Pirate - Larger Cities
and live with that for now, with partial support
on the other mod, pending any future possible release of a new executable

i don't think an altered executable is needed of the original brethren of the coast mod, it didnt crack the exe to modify it |

original brethren of the coast mod
see the KNOWN FLAWS in the
MCSmarties's - Brethren of the Coast Mod Link Thread
http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7900
MCSmarties did not include, any Custom game executable fix,
this was provided by Pirate Later, separately
(and omits the large cities mod edits)
see further posts in the above thread
EDIT:
see also here
Guardacosta's Mod- all dutch texts changed to Brethren

I assume this is a discussion about using my larger cities executable with the Brethren mod from McSmarties. It would work just fine except there will be some Dutch text because it’s in the executable and wasn’t modded for using in a brethren mod. It was simply made to make all the cities larger in the og. You would have the exact same game and flaws you see if you just installed the McSmarties mod itself with the only difference is larger cities and perhaps all eras open but I’m not sure about that but knowing me they probably are. I don’t recommend using McSmarties mod as a stand alone mod because it has errors like a missing flag. Uniforms the Brethren wear he claims the game flawed but in fact the flaw is his. Overall not bad work but keep that in mind if you play it. |

Well i can't combine the bretheren exe and your caribbean exe but i know mcsmarty's original mod didn't require and altered exe. So ill just use your caribbean exe and throw in mcsmartys pack. Theres a flag pack i downloaded that i think fleetp might have uploaded that has the full flags for the betheren mod without that one missing
1) slower aging mod
2) useless items mod
3) anything else you added? |

It did require a altered executable but he didn’t make one likely because he didn’t know how to do. That’s why there is Dutch text in the game. If you can live with that then no problem no executable needed. I didn’t particularly like the modesty mods of the beautiful daughters and the barmaid either but then using dev guys more sexy mods for the other daughters. Just doesn’t add up right to me. It’s been so long since I made the larger city mod I can’t remember everything I did without rereading what I wrote. I’m thinking the only changes are the cities all use Havana and possibly open to all eras and keep likely no challenges except possibly the slower aging mod but I’m not sure about that even. |

If interested I could redo the executable for my Brethren mod but make it clear what challenges if any you want. I’m not gonna do it to just be doing it I want to know who’s interested or not. |

Not for me don't do it. I've just been enjoying the bretheren mod with some of adammils mods on top of it. I think running his patcher just reinstalled the old Caribbean executable, I see quite a few cities that are small. Your mod made every city have thousands of citizens and hundreds of soldiers, right? FRom the beginning? Many 1000 or less citizens in cities i see |

You can’t patch a executable with the challenge pack. That’s not what it was designed to do. It’s a executable writer and you can add challenges or simply write a new executable without any challenges but either way you get a new executable that completely overwrites the old one unless you renamed the old to something else prior to using the challenge pack. Once again it doesn’t patch old executables it makes new ones. Hope this clears things up a bit because this is something that has been discussed before a number of occasions. It’s best to read what a application does prior to using it so you’ll be in the know without any false expectations. Enough said. |
