They coded a slowing of response time as you reach set ages in the game. I can see this when a slash or chop isn't fast enough and I get stuck. At that point the potion or salve helps, but wears off. When all else fails I rely on the thrust as the most effective tactic.

Fighting Montey and other evils is gimmicked by the keys for attack being deactivated to give the appearance that the evils are just faster.... not related to aging effect. I engaged Monety as soon as possible and if I do not remove his crew I get my ass handed to me... even though I am in the prime of life time period. The sword play charms help, metal jacket, leather vest, matched swords, silk shirt...but these take time to find. When I take out the crew Montey is very weak and not aggressive.

Has anyone by any chance ever tried the Challenge Pack Mod with
the GOG game release version ?


GOG remove DRM features as supply downloadable game files.

So in theory ought to be simliar to say
a NOCD excutable & retail CD/DVD retail game release patched to v1.02
or with the Challenge pack executable (v1.02 game patch recommended)

My vision is a bit blurred, Im' a tired boy and running around the past few days makes it worse.


I'm assuming reformulated crew happiness makes you need more gold to keep a crew happy? like the minumum per number of crew is higher?


Tenacious top ten pirates - i was reading that top ten pirates don't die out, they just respawn somewhere after being defeated? Great idea, and ill wait a few years patiently so their gold respawns too Smile

Can this be applied over the East indies mod executable? all or some? I think i'm liking longer life and never say die pirates

as far as I can recall

the modelcitizen - Pirates o' the East Indies 2020 mod
did use as a base the Challenge pack,
but may not have things exactly the way you want

The executable probably has a ton of further work
done on it to polish the gameplay.

i downloaded the challenge pack and read all the discriptions. Can't defeat a named pirate means they re spawn after your sword fight with them right? Kind of like Raymondo?

Slower aging is right up my alley because i do alot of things that kill precious time. Like selling goods at the best price and sailing around for it and my red cross work of escorting immigrants and new governors

If you were to make a new exe with the Challenge Pack and run it with the East Indies mod, it would undo a lot of the changes and make for some inconsistencies (like running the standard exe with the mod). I *think* slower aging is enabled, Pirate might know for sure

I'm trying to work on a way that would make it easier by just patching whatever .exe is already there, limited progress so far though Smile

I don't think tenacious top pirates respawn - just they won't raise the white flag and allow the easy boarding? Can still sink and duel them like normal

Il'll check out the list of changes with the new version and see if it's looking good. Why not, it's a 15 year old game, time for something new

Yeah I worked off Pirate's version so it's slower aging. You may be able to run a patch on it somehow to enable other tweaks.
