Unfortunately all my mods so far involve code changes, which is too bad because I'd like to have Mac versions. (That's still possible, but it requires a Mac user willing to collaborate on it.)

Since the Steam and retail exes have encrypted code segments (which are infeasible to patch), you either have to release a modded exe or a clean, unencrypted exe plus a patch. But given that it won't do anything except crash without the 1.2GB of game data to match, I don't see any ethical problem with it. |
