Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I'm new to installing mods and I need some help. I have been trying to install the challenge pack but it's not working. i have placed the mod into a custom folder and ran the game but the mod is not having any affect on it. when I try to run the game from the application in the folder it says I'm missing a bunch of DLLs. |

The Challenge pack generates a custom game executable
depending on what options you set for it
when you generate the new exe file
you replace the existing game executable
(backup recommended)
with the executable generated from the Challenge pack
Further Info here
http://www.adammil.net/blog/v121_The_Sid_Meier_s_Pirates_Challenge_Pack.html
To use it, replace your game executable (Pirates!.exe) with the one generated by the program. (You may want to make a backup first.)
for example
C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\Pirates!.exe
Where C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\ is the game install folder
Pirates Texture replacement mods are installed to the Custom override folder,
Create it if required
for example
C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\custom
Where C:\Sid Meier's Pirates!\ is the game install folder
(avoid using Program Files for installing games
as a Windows OS protected location)
Some mods included a readme file which should state
where to install if different to above
your save games are located here
C:\Users\My profile name\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!
Where My profile name is your Windows account profile name

The challenge pack makes a new executable. It rewrites the old one. You don't install it by dropping it in the game itself. You tell it where the game is and it sends the-executable to it and overwrites the old one or you can make it outside the game then copy the executable not the program and paste overwrite in the game. Missing Dll's usually require a fresh reinstall as the game can't run without them. |

I re-installed the game then extracted the challenge pack into the custom folder and generated a new executable in the custom folder. I tried to run it from the executable it created but it still said I was missing a bunch of DLLs. I then tried to run it from steam but the mod still was not active. |

Sounds like to me the new executable wasn't put in the right place by overwriting the old one. Take your executable out of the game place it in documents, pictures wherever you want other than the game then click on it you will see missing system 32. dll or something like that. |
