I have been looking through old posts for challenge ideas and thought it might make sense to collect links to some of this history in one place. For starters here is a truly insane idea.
The idea was to surpass Henry Morgan, without attacking him directly. It started with the not impossible concept of getting more gold to attain the first rank among pirates on that status screen, but then devolved to the idea of surpassing the master in ships captured. I would have thought it impossible but apparently DJ1 did it, after trying for about a year. Not proposing it, mind you, but the thread makes interesting reading.

The Costa Guarda Challenge was to attempt a max score staying loyal to the Spanish. Interesting rules, perhaps adaptable to other countries - or maybe team enntries by nation?

Here is a really intesting idea - part treasure hunt on the forum, and part gameplay. Orangebeard explains the rules eight or nine posts into the thread.

Just for variety, here is another Orangebeard challenge - a race to find the sacred relic. It seemed a bit daffy at first, but is does involve some stategy and seems quick.

Another Orangebeard contest - this for the most guards knocked out while sneaking. I think Loki has done something like this for fun and it might be possible to get them all.
