Somewhere I heard that the fewer ports a country had, the more gold their ships carried. I was just wondering if this was true or not. I mean, you'd think that they would have more wealth if they had more ports. I wish I rememberred where I read this. _________________ A positive attitude may not solve all problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth your while. |

I recall seeing a similar thread, if not the same, here on these forums.
If I recall correctly someone had captures all but one of the spanish ports and when they hunted down the spanish ships they were getting 20k+ per capture.
I've never tried this but do recall there being a discussion on it. _________________ The Spirit of the Cav is reason enough to fight! |

if you have the US version of Pirates, you can take advantage of the mondo-gold bug.
Simply eliminate 3 of the 4 countries and start doing escort missions (governors, immigrants etc). This will 'cause ships from the eliminated nations to appear, trying to ruin your mission. These ships carry alot of gold, often up to 20k a piece. (this is a short version of how this exploit works) _________________ HaP! Real Pirates hang out there! |

Actually, I think I read it in a review somewhere in which this guy talked about manipulating the trade routes. The whole theory behind it still doesn't make sense, but I might have to try it sometime. _________________ A positive attitude may not solve all problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth your while. |

Hmmm. Never thought of this. I had assumed that if you eliminateds the country you essentially eliminated all their ships. Now I can simply go and wipe them out. _________________ The Spirit of the Cav is reason enough to fight! |

Yup, I guess that's why it's classified as a bug / exploit It's another of those sweet little inconsistancies of the game (it's still a very nice game though). _________________ HaP! Real Pirates hang out there! |
