Finding previous threads with the search feature is a pain in the keel. Type in cross, you get 33 matches, Golden cross you get 44, special item golden cross you get 179!!! Good luck finding a previous thread Rupert.

My own personal belief is that the Indian and Jesuit impressing items will increase the amount of money available there, or the amount of goods available, but the effect isn't terribly large if I'm not imagining it. I also think that the positive diplomatic effects may be amplified when you complete a given mission. For instance, having both Jesuit items and delivering a boat-load of immigrants may be worth more diplomatic points to the governor you delivered to than if you didn't have those items and completed that mission. Again, I could be imagining this.

I know in one of my earlier games I had talked to the head monk several times and all he ever wanted me to do was escort immegrants. Then I buy the cross at a pirate haven and deside to stop in and see Father Gonzo. He tells me he will intercede with the spanish on my behalf, yadda, yadda, yadda. It may be just coinsidence but I think it does have something to do with helping you get back in favor with an enemy.

I think I always succeeded getting amnesty without having the golden cross or the sacred relic .

What difficulty do you have? Harder than Rouge?!?

I play on Rogue, I don't dare try the swashbuckler level. But I don't know why the Jesuits should not help us. We can't do any harm to them.

It makes a sense to possess the Shrunken Head or Carved Shaman Stick, because the Indians may be angry with you if you attacked them several times.

But Jesuits always seem to be helpful and cooperative.

Amnesty is still trivial without the cross at Swash.

You need to type a +before your search term. You described the process for searching for a post with "golden" OR "cross' OR "item" in it. That must be quite a few. If you type in +golden +cross then you are searching for a post with "golden" AND "cross" in it. Total of two results.

Just thought that might help. The search features is alive and well.

Supermeganecropost!!!

Well, actually I'm discovered what sacred cross/relic are need for. As you all maybe know, the Jesuit Missions in game have two.. hmm.. let's call it "states". In the beginning of the game they are all "friendly" (they all have "Friendly Jesuit Mission" note under the name). If you enter into the mission and take a quest from the Padre (in most cases it's immigrant delivery), "Friendly Jesuit Mission" changes on just simple "Jesuit Mission", without "friendly". So, until it changes back, you cannot take another quest in this Mission. If you try, monk will say "You back too soon blah blah blah" or something. Well, "state" of the missions resets in the beginning of every month, and this is where sacred things are come to play. The more advanced "sacred thing" you have - the less you need to wait for reset of the "state" of current Jesuit Mission back to "friendly"!

I did some research - took quest from Padre to deliver ship with immigrants, sank the ship right after it floated from the Mission (Arrr Very Happy ), and then just waited until this Jesuit Mission will reset back to it's "friendly state". So, without any of sacred items it took awhile for Mission to become "friendly" again - for example, it never became friendly right in next month after I took quest. Once I waited for a half of a year, and it still don't "resets". When I tried to do the same thing, but with both sacred cross and sacred relic with me, the Jesuit Mission often bacame friendly just in next month (but not always - it is still random in some measure), which never happened without this items.

So, the Mystery of Sacred Items is revealed! Smile I think, that Indian Items (don't recall exactly names) work similary, although I didn't experiments on them. And hello from Russia by the way! Hi As you may noticed (yes, I know about my awful grammar Feeling Sick ), English is not my first language. But I hope (I really hope Smile ), that all I wrote here is quite understandable. Well, if not, feel free to correct me, or, if it is not understendable at all, just ask me and I try to explain. You will learn the language only if you try to speak it, right? Sailor
