Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier (FCIV)


File Checksum Integrity Verifier (FCIV) is a free command-line checksum calculator tool that used to be provided by Microsoft.

FCIV is now an unsupported Microsoft command-line tool
and is no longer available directly from Microsoft.
(see next post for an alternate download link)


computes and verifies hashes of files
computes a MD5 or SHA1 cryptographic hash of the content of the file.

Checksums are used to validate file integrity.

FCIV works in Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000, and most Windows server operating systems
