I created a new mod that makes the top pirates never surrender, in the same way that the main quest villains never surrender, so you have to duel them on their ship to finally beat them (unless you sink them :-P). I thought it was a sad end for the top pirates to simply take their mast off and make them walk the plank or whatever. Now they at least go out with a bit of honor. Or maybe they get the better of you and dump you in the sea. :-D

looking at the dates I thought I was the last Smile
I play this after rush hour traffic or whenever I realy need to vent, its the only game I ever play.

Whats the deal with installing the mod on the challenge pack? I got the version I use at GOG, can it be added to that version?
I got the online version after loosing my cd but it seems as good.

The challenge pack creates a new executable that works with steam and the cd version. It has a list of changes made to the executable life slower ageing, faster cannon speed etc and you click on the ones you want or simply choose nothing and it will make you a new executable.

The Challenge Pack Mod release probably predates the GOG release of the Sid Meier Pirates Game, but not aware of any reason why it wouldn't work.

If anybody has tried it with the GOG game version there has been no feedback on this.
The bulk of the forum users probably at a guess, have the original
game retail disk CD or DVD versions or Steam Distribution version.

There is an issue with Windows 10 and the original game CD or DVD disk releases. Also the game lacks widescreen graphics resolution support.

If only one of the epic modders like AdamMil or Phalzyr were still around - there must be a way to "escort" a ship (i.e. override the code and have your ship just follow it, like the AI), and also to "autopilot" - i.e. plot a route to a city and just watch your first mate take over

Adam Mill has a website. I believe if you search for Sid Miers Pirate mods it’s shows up pretty quick. If not search Challenge pack SMP. He might respond if you post something there in his mod section. Could pm him here to but he doesn’t come around often. The other guy was great too but he was here and gone before me. Anyway sailing a ship in this game isn’t hard to do. Autopilot sailing dancing and fencing then you might not really be playing anything. Be more like watching tv. I read about the guy getting pulled over at a high rate of speed in a Telsa. He was sound asleep behind the wheel with the seat laid flat down. The car was driving itself. My understanding is you have to have your hands on the wheel before autopilot works for safety reasons but people learned to tie heavy object to the steering wheel making it think you have a hold on it.

Phalzyr's SMP Trainer has an "auto-dance" feature, as well as a "be 18 in sword fights", and an "instant win land battles" function.

auto-dance I don't think I'd mind as much in the later stages, especially if you have both of those items already. Those wanted criminals can pile up and become a nuisance, lol.

18 in sword fights kind of takes away the point of finishing the main quest in a certain amount of time, which might be even easier in the East Indies with all the Spanish villains crowded around the Philippines
